Colored Canvas

by kia   Mar 4, 2008

I've waited too long
It's far too late
This is my story
With no happy ending in sight

I wish people would stop painting me pretty pictures
You can't reuse a canvas
Once someone's used it before
What's underneath will always bleed through

I am the canvas
Many have been the paint
But no one considered what colors to use
Or what pictures to paint

So now I'm tainted
Too dirty to use
Too dark to brighten
Just a mess best be burned

So don't tell me of rainbows
When you already painted me using black and grey
And my heart putting in some blue
My pain adding some red

Color with no white
Can only get darker
So don't bother turning on the light
It's already too late

WOW! Truly amazing. That was so...I liked it. The metaphor you used was brilliant.
