Nightmares

by erin girl   Mar 9, 2008

I am caught up in a dream,
But not one I would like to remember.

I am forcefully taken to a deep dark place.
Where imaginary things become real.

My heart works so hard to keep up,
filling itself with unwanted terror.

Wondering how long it will take before I awake again,
So I can see that my mind is not as crazy as it appears to be.

I try to escape this midnight horror,
yet I cannot run, nor can I hide from it.

The horrifying, arm hair raising illusions make me shiver in my sleep.
Staying in my mind, never leaving until the early morning.

I stay asleep while this horrifying dream seems endless.

At least I know that my mind is only playing tricks on me,
and once I awake everything will be back to normal again.
