In My Life

by debbylyn   Mar 16, 2008

In my life a garden grows
Behind a faded fence
Roses bloom amidst the thorns
Bowing to the wind

Pickets peeled and broken
Once freshly painted white
Hold the tangled garden
As shadows steal the night

Rocky ground lays bare the scars
Caressed by flooding rain
Still sweet perfume of rosebuds
Floats in the breeze again

I gathered up the flowers
In spite of prickly thorns
Drop by drop I fed them all
To die and be reborn

As Winter's kiss did ravage
Brick by brick there grew a wall
Cradling all the blossoms
Keeping Summer from the Fall

In my life a garden grows
Gnarled hands sowing seeds
Another Spring of promises
Flowers through the weeds

in our life a flower blooms that will never grow old, never dies....

To pick oneself up after the storms of pain wreck havoc .... knowing I will learn and grow ... I will be alright!

Time has seen many thorns ... life's happiness sometimes washed away ... but to come back with new growth and hope (as Spring does) .... A new beautiful love comes into our lives ... just like fresh new air whisks into our souls at Springtime.....

The depth within this poem is breath-taking Debbie ....
Your words never cease to amaze me dear poetess!
