My Devoted Curse

by Kristen   Mar 17, 2008

I'm surrounded by posers and many fake laughs
Sitting amongst so called friends i am but an outcast.
I see many who hide behind a disguise
Caught up in their own web of lies.
Beneath the surface of the people around
Is the one place their true emotions can be found.
They're huddled in the corner, they wear only black
No one can see what they need, the one thing they lack.
Freckles, glasses, or braces it's all the same
Who hides it best, It's all just a game
We worry about how we're seen in our life
When all we are, are masks covering emotions and strife.
They are scattered throughout the room, before my eyes i see
And as I'm looking, reality comes crashing down upon me
I am fake as well, maybe even worse
Faking the smile i wear, my devoted curse
I walk right on past them everyday
Forgetting that i too am the same way.
