The Day It Came to An End

by Jodie Phillips   Mar 26, 2008

Something in me changed that day
When you said you no longer felt the same,
No longer in love and from us you want to depart
Is this how it feels to suffer a broken heart?

Why did you return to me the very next day
From then on, I'm unable to believe a word you say,
You damaged me in the most bizarre way
I truly believe this is not love but pure hate.

It has truly destroyed me, as well as you....US
In denial, we both knew it was killing our love,
I begged you to end it, bring back the happy days
But they are long gone now, it's just too late.

Not pointing the finger, we are both to blame
To know this it kills me inside,
The only way to end the lingering pain
Is to be truthful and no longer hide.

We can face this journey together
Or we can conquer our demons alone,
Whichever path we decide to take
I hope I find somewhere where sadness is unknown.
