Transformation

Transformation.
Before my eyes you are lost
To become the wolf
Within.
Panic mixes with a sense of wonderment
As I see you change -
So sudden, so definite,
Seeming so final.
A step back - unsure, uncertain.
You gaze at me with your wolf eyes,
The eyes that seem too human somehow...
And I see, I see the person within.
You whine, step forward hesitantly,
Huge paws making no sound on the forest floor.
I step towards you, all fear gone
Now I see the humanness inside.
You're still you, there's been no change,
Not inside your mind anyway.
As I take the step your eyes light up,
Seeing the acceptance in mine.
Bounding forward, knocking me down,
Your furry body presses to mine,
And in my mind I whisper the words -
'I still love you'

    makes me think of people in general.
    They may seem unkind and vicious. But they are still human
