A Apprenez de Aimez

by Quietly Versed   Mar 30, 2008

Too long I have feared love.
The one I held close spoke of such.
I heed rumors of love's hostilities
I need only remain... she will assail.

Daily I reside in my keep.
A simple window hinders my view of the world.
My mirror lies in pieces,
I grew tired of misery's face.

Many walls secure my captive city.
Time brings their decay.
If not for my fear,
My resistance would fade.

Today I woke to a new sound,
A soft roar from some outside force;
And a repeated tremble throughout my city.
Through my window I saw love's army.

Love now besieges me.
Her troops are immeasurable.
Her weaponry greater than I could have imagined.
Yet, my defenses remain strong.

My walls are reinforced,
With each passing night.
The Lovers flames dancing by moonlight
She cannot conquer if she grows weary.

A sudden roar,
My city trembles one last time.
My reality crumbles,
Love proved too strong.

My keep stands exposed,
Love surrounds the heart of my city at will.
I cast one last glance,
And close my view of the world.

I surrender to her.
After years of fear,
I leave my keep to meet love
For the first time.

I cast a glance upon love.
My pane lacked such passion.
She softly touches me.
My fears are quickly reversed

A strapping tug on my cheeks,
I quickly turn from love, and run back to my keep.
I replace the broken pieces of my mirror,
Happiness has a face!

Very great imagery! Well-written with very great word usage. The flow was decent... I loved the concept as well.
