It killed you

by Unamed   Apr 11, 2008

Knowing that you'll be gone,
in a matter of minutes.
It's tearing me apart.

My love for you,
you know, will never end.
When you've been so good to me,
To everyone you know,
Why would it hit you?

Summer nights,
looking at the stars,
Spring evenings,
running through the meadows,
Falls days,
fussing with the leaves,
Winter mornings,
playing with the snow.
Oh i wish you'd be here,
to share these moments with me.

It struck your body,
killing you,
inside and out.

Leukemia changed your life,
and i know who you were and who you are.
Chemo was your only hope,
But as always,
holds no guarantees.

Chemo killed you.
Killed your appearance,
withdrew you from the living
turned you into the outcast.
But no matter what,
i still love you.
To bad it didn't kill the filthy disease.

Watching you die step by step
was the hardest thing i had to see.
You don't know the pain it brought me.
You don't know what it's like
to have your one-and-only
die in front of your eyes.

I visited you everyday.
while holding your hand,
I'd talk to you.
about anything it all.

It came the day when you went into a coma.
i watched your mom and dad, make their decision.
pull the plug or leave it on.
We knew that the only thing keeping you alive were those machines.

We had to let you go.
We knew you'd be in a better place.
Will you wait for me in heaven?

The filthy disease killed you,
and your body,
But it didn't kill the memories.
We will always remember you!

My love for you,
you know, will never end.

People die, not their memories.... Someone comes up with a cure for it so that no more friends or people are lost...... So wonderful poem. Keep on writing

Great story, your imagery made me feel like i was there watching this progress through your eyes. The end brought a few tears to my eyes, it hits close to home. The only thing is maybe work with the flow and it would be flawless. Great job 5/5
