In remembrence

by Cathie   Apr 11, 2008

This poem is inspired by a quest poem in WoW - and i wrote it because a dear friend lost someone close.

Do not stand at my grave and weep:
act like I'm there - only at sleep.
Turn your face to the sky above,
what do you feel, hatred or love?
Do you remember the first time we met?
Our time together - do you regret?
I'm with you in the wind that blow.
Right beside you, I hope you know.
After some time the pain will go away,
but keep me in your heart - let me stay.
Remember my smile even though I'm gone,
remember me whole even though I was torn.
Know that I'm in every song,
and act like I'm not gone for long.
Even though I departed this place,
remember me in my might and grace.
I will be forever near,
the wind that dry your lonely tear.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
because I'm not there - I do not die...

  • Wonderful idea for a poem for the dead. I had a similar concept type poem written about my brother who died of leukemia when I was about 5. You did a wonderful job on this poem, it brought back memories... the good kind. :)
