The Abyss

by LitxUpxWithxLife   Apr 12, 2008

The abyss calls me forth into the darkest place.
And in this darkness I see a face.
I can't make it out, so closer, I move.
A hymn starts to play and my soul it does soothe.
The face I see, I know is my own.
The hymn tells me I'm forever alone.
No one can help me escape this seclusion.
So it's pointless to suffer my deepest delusion.
But it is there for me and it will be there to comfort me.
So if ever you want to find me, forever in darkness I'll always be.

    Very original poem.
I like the personification that you used along with the remarkable 'abyss' metaphor. This is another excellent dark poem from you, very refreshing and filled with fantastic descriptions. I like the narrative tone of your poems, it seem that you tell great, haunting stories within every poem of yours.
