I Would Have

by Jaded Serenity   Apr 14, 2008

If I could delve into my past and change the way I did things:

I would have smiled more,
so that people wouldn't have thought I was so bitter

I wouldnt have covered my mouth when I laughed;
because I was afraid of the laughter I would get in return

I would have talked more,
so that people could see my colorful personality

I would have stood up for myself,
when people were pushing me down

I would have flaunted my weaknesses;
so that people would mistake them for strengths

I would have spoke out against the people that hurt me the most,

I would not have cared about strangers that made fun of me;
because the only opinions that matter are from your loved ones.

I wouldnt have taken my own life in my hands and juggled it so carelessly

I would have treated the people I love with the respect they deserve;
because in the end their all we all really have.

There are so many things I would have done differently. I have to realize that one can not change the mistakes they have made. They can only change the mistakes they are going to make. Acceptance is the key to happiness, because the saddest life a person could live, is one lived in the past.
