Our Love

by Norman John Henry Campbell   Apr 18, 2008

On my birthday we got together
And it was the greatest present
I have ever received and won't forget
And the days and the months passed
And our love grew, we talked of
Marriage although no one knew

Between us we were engaged
And no-one new. I wore a string
You gave me and that was it.
I loved it because it came from you

We fought and we fought
But these fights helped me
To open up and trust others
More. This was a gift from you
But the greatest was your love.
You loved me and I loved you.

We talked of moving
Out and getting our own
Place. It took months
And finally we did
But as things in this world
Are, it got delayed.

Then it happened the moment
That eats me up inside all the time
I kissed her and wanted her.
But little did I know I was still
In love with you. If only I had
Admitted it to myself, perhaps
Things would have been different.

But all the same with all our
Hearts we loved each other
And still we wanted each other
But know you have moved on.
Now I have too moved on.

But one night it happened I
Was hurting from my past and
The last thing I looked at were
Our photos and I committed
Suicide but I didn't succeed.
And now I have to move on
And now I have to live
Babe now you're gone.
