Sticks and Stones [Triquatrain]

by aDORKable x3   Apr 19, 2008

Sticks and stones can break my bones,
But words can break my heart.
A simple phrase is all it takes
To rip me clean apart.

Your lips can tell me subtle lies,
And now my heart's in two.
The pain you cause isn't worth it at all;
And I don't know what to do.

The words you said spin 'round in my head,
Giving me such an ache;
The pain inside slowly collides -
I don't know how much more I can take.

Actions don't speak but they leave me weak -
It's your words making me feel alone.
Your simple phrase was all I could take...
Give me back the Sticks and Stones.

    This for me was the best verse. it grabbed my attention. it was so well written. perfecting wording and flow and rhyme.

    The rest of the poem was just as good but that first stanze really got to me.

    Overall a fantastic poem, i wish i'd written it myself!

    Nice use of the old cliche phrase to get me in to it immediately.

    It was quite a good poem.
