Sleeping beauty ((Reader, Keep hushed))

by StandStill   Apr 23, 2008

Beautiful black box
engraved with lies
darkest ebony secrets
to ever grace your eyes

Oh, this lovely coffin
a hidden tomb of pain
Reader, shall we open it?
or is that what makes mortals insane?

Brush your fingers over webs
secrets are rotting deep within
can you hear it creaking?
let the pain and fear begin..

Corpse's lips are smiling
so beautiful and soft
and the morning breeze is stirring
bearing ancient hair aloft

Can you put your finger on it?
Reader, does that cat have your tongue?
you shouldn't worry, no
death's song's already been sung

But listen close on the whispered wind
can you hear her childish laugh?
oh, these beautiful porcelain eyes
they held so much joy in the past

Too bad Lover killed her
broke her oaken heart
funny how tragic endings
become beautiful starts

So brush your loving fingers
over sleeping beauty's loving face
try to tear your eyes away now
from this angel fallen from grace

Do you wonder if she went
up to Heaven's doors?
or do you think, perhaps..
there was something more?

I suppose we'll never know
and Reader, the morning comes
closing up the hardened tomb
turn now your eyes to the rising sun

And Lover, don't forget
a broken heart..it kills
sleeping beauty never to awake
for now the tomb is still

These are great poetic lines, no less than a poetic genius cold write them. I salute your poetic talent and wish that you reach the crowning glory of the poets. Rhyme, rhythm, aliteration and diction, all are superb.
