Seasons

by Bill Turner   Apr 24, 2008

Rolling thunder echoing in my head
Blue fire lighting up the sky
Battling to chase winter away
The seasons fighting for survival
All four each an eternal rival

Old man winter is on the run
Bolts of lightning crashing at his heal
Leaves, buds and blooms laughing in his wake
As the sea of grey and doom
Turns to green and bloom

The golden orange burning bright
Touching the faces of plants and trees
Bringing to life bulbs and grass
Helping to awaken both young and old
As life moves forward, ever bold

Summer is just around the corner
Waiting to push spring out the door
Scorching all it touches along the way
As fall lurks in the shadows of change
Winter right behind it blowing across the range

This was such a breath taking read!! The word usage panted such a wonderful yet violent image.

Blue fire lighting up the sky
    Battling to chase winter away
    The seasons fighting for survival
All four each an eternal rival"

Was totally gob smacked with the depth of description within this stanza and found myself drawn in from here! Fantastic!!

Wow you have created some amazing imagery with the stroke of your pen, my friend.

Old man winter is on the run
Bolts of lightning crashing at his heal
Leaves, buds and blooms laughing in his wake
As the sea of grey and doom
    Turns to green and bloom
