The Photograph

by x Mo x   May 10, 2008

Four best friends in one photo booth.
Smiling and laughing, enjoying the fun.
Posing and joking, until the day was done.
Too carefree to face the horrid truth.

Calendar dates flying off the wall.
All still smiling, laughing, playing around.
Then slowly the first vanishes without a sound.
Three watch their friend gradually fall.

This time in a pair, one with the other.
Both of them fall away before her eyes.
Trying to pull them back together despite any lies.
She knows they're her spirit sister and brother.

All four faces, one small frame.
Did the camera know it would end?
Could anyone tell they wouldn't stay best friends?
Life now is far from that very same.

The only evidence of the friendship
That had lasted thousands of smiles,
Now only rivers of tears that stretch on for miles.
Smiles and laughs, only memories on their lips.

Wow. I like it alot. it shows how when you go back and look at old pictures, sometimes things have happened and the pictures are just plain wrong. sad, but well written. good work.
