It rains hardest on those who deserve the sun

by Brad Quammen   May 11, 2008

It rains hardest on those who deserve the sun
A debate against this fact is a battle never won,
For all who disbelieve in this are fools
They are unknowing of the truth of the world,
so grim,so cold...

It rains hardest on those who deserve the sun
Although they seem just and out for fun,
a transparent cloud follows them as they wander aimlessly,
trying to avoid the deepness of their daily depression,
a true abyss...

It rains hardest on those who deserve the sun
A shower of suffering which is more brutal then any gun
Even a warrior, heart hardened to stone,
could not fight this beastly fact,
for it is unforgiving to the bone

It rains hardest on those who deserve the sun
Even though long-lasting,it has just begun
No more time to ignore this fact, for it has found you
No more time to run away, for it will ground you
And just like a heart,it will pound you,
smothering you like a plastic bag over your head

It rains hardest on those who deserve the sun
Seeming like god has it out for everyone
Little lost children out on the street,
trying to just find a little something to eat
but chin up child...
It can't rain all the time
