    Kay
What a wonderful way to share your beautiful Georgia with us.

Pass not by the old dirt road
Through covered bridge and oaks now bowed
To Blue Ridge foot a trail of tears
    Forgotten lore and pioneers

The imagery is awesome. I can see this beautiful scenery through your words. The old covered bridges...surrounded by the trees.

Pass not by where rivers run
To catch a glimpse of morning sun
    Savannah sands their lonely dune
    Atlantic Oceans lovely tune

What a wonderful sight this is. I can almost hear the waves playing that tune.

Pass not by ere roadside crest
Where beneath the stones a princess rest
    Eternal youth from waters nourish
    Reach gardens where Azaleas flourish

What a great story about the princess. The lore that goes with this story I'm sure will be passed down for generations to come.

    Pass not by ancestral graves
Nor shacks of wood that housed the slaves
Pause a moment ...pass not by
    Listen to her lullaby

You have written your Georgia's lullaby and your words have sang it to your readers.
    ~Clapping~

    Kay,

You made such an excelllent poem! No filler words(lol) and great use of words. I could see it all in front of me:)
I would love to see some pictures of your state and hometown if you are willing to share them:)

Beautiful Kay! Love the awesome references to the great historic places in Georgia! This one has a nice rhyme scheme and beautiful flow and imagery.

Love the repition of the first three words at the beginning of each verse! It's hard for me to choose a favorite line or verse because it's all so wonderful but I'd have to say the ending is great!

    "Pass not by ancestral graves
Nor shacks of wood that housed the slaves
Pause a moment ...pass not by
    Listen to her lullaby"

    ^Nicely written...very vivid....5/5 Debbie

I love the way this is written, with the "pass not by"s - it sounds really professional, like a classic. and the loyalty to your state is so heartfelt - 5/5 =)

I'm fortunate to be able to see the Blue Ridge Mountains from my garden (although a tad further north) and can wholly relate to the obvious love you have for your home state. A beautiful tribute.

A fantastic ode to Georgia. I could really feel and see Georgia in my mind when reading this poem. My train passed thru Georgia when I moved from Florida last month. I regret not having the time to explore your colorful, scenic state.
