Ceramic Guise

by AGirlWorthFightingFor   May 16, 2008

Mask compassion like
Tears on a spiderweb
You know she's only faking
Fear and panic held like weapons close at her side

When push comes compromise
Going through the motions
Of the legal system
To gain some sympathy

Undeserved, unbestowed upon her victims
Like a straight-razor
Cutting off access
To the precious few who support them

Spreading lies
Thinly veiled false alibis
Smolden eyes like molten lava
Spying vulnerabilities
Devouring them with perfect teeth

She's had a long time
To perfect her ceramic guise
Many layers of disappointments to build upon
The betrayal of a thousand failed friendships
Wounding her tired eyes
