What is a Step-Dad

What exactly is a step dad?

To the man who came into a broken family
And gave us that extra stepping stone
To show us the path, that before was incomplete
Making my mother finally feel that shes not alone

There is a song called “walk a little straighter daddy
But I never could relate.
Because I never knew what it was like to have a dad
Then you came before it was too late

Your footsteps have always been easy to follow
Even though I stumbled a few times
But never because you staggered
Because you always walked a straight line

So why do they call it a “step-dad”?
Maybe because you are a step up from a Dad
Something far more dear, called a father
And now, I too know what a father is like to have

So today I want you to remember
How wonderful, strong, and intelligent you are
Because without you here with me
I would have never gotten this far

I never can repay you, Dad,
For all the things you've done,
I can only love you more and more
For each and every one!
