In Today's World (acrostic)

by Ashleigh Skye   Jun 6, 2008

Inspirational words
Never again spoken from their mouths

Total destruction around us.
Old horrors continuing to thrive.
Do we actually know the price we are paying?
A long time ago
Young men and women fought for power
Surpassing even their wildest expectations and

When they thought they couldn't go any further
Overcame their exhaustion,
Rallied together and
Laid down the ground work for our future.
Dust has not rested on their dreams.

For that was years ago,
Realists and extremists
Entered slowly and because of that, the
Extinction of freedom and life as we know it was
Determined.
Order was something to be met, and standing out was
Murder.

Can we really grown when we keep being
Ordered to return to the past?
Men and women failing to
Exercise their rights as humans for fear of
Sacrilege and pain.

Are any of us really strong enough
To give up what we have

And how we live in order to

Protect society?
Righteous we are not, for
In asking everyone to change we are
Cutting away
Everything that makes us human.
