Abstract of the Mind

by Painted Persona   Jun 11, 2008

Could these limbs pleasure you?
The blood doesn't emerge like yours
And the wounds don't heal the same
But still...

Write upon this arm if you must
Carve your intentions.

Could these lips bear a smile?
Even cracked and worn from speech
Crooked from years of lies...
Yet, to elevate that moment of weakness...

Bleed these blistered lips if you choose
Stretch the skin for friendship.

Should these lashes become unhinged?
Exposing salty emotions they hide so well
Somehow unspoken, yet shared...
Does amber say enough when needed?

Drain droplets of pain if you're determined
Eventually the flooding stops over time.

Dare extend this hand to yours?
Fingers have become brittle, weakened...
Learning to trust has taking it's toll
But strength is held in the palms.

Reach for these fingers if you can
One day they will be as strong as you believe.

Wow you are such a strong writer. I think the set up of this poem only adds to your voice and helps to give your words more punch. Nice job.

I like the sturcture, how theres an alternating stanza length. It adds depth and flow. The last line of the first stanza is obviously shorter than the rest and it takes a little something away, but the message is still amazing.
