Time is at hand

by Grant Gilbert AKA Slash   Jun 12, 2008

The time is at hand
The day you were born my heart swelled with pride
A very quiet childhood you led
But a turbulent youth was just down the line
Don't worry my son we've got time on our side

I've pushed and I've shoved and I've worried to a fault
But rebellion and disappointment I've received as a result
It feels like my grip is slipping no matter how hard I try
Don't worry my son we've got time on our side

You've broken my heart and I'm sure it's my fault
I don't want to talk to you right now, I'm not ready to confront
I need some time to think, I have to regain some pride
Don't worry my son we've got time on our side

Guess I'm a little hard and straight forward but that's who I am
I like to think I've been a loving dad a thoughtful and compassionate man
One thing you have to understand is that I'm always on you side
Don't worry my son we've got time on our side

Let there be no doubt that I love you completely and have always been proud
But just for now I need a little time out
You've hurt me so deeply that my words can't describe
Don't worry my son we've got time on our side

But time is fleeting it's my swift footed friend
So we'll both try harder
You be my son and I'll be your dad
Don't worry my son, the time is at hand
