Freedom in their Hearts

by Independence Forever   Jun 18, 2008

From far away battlefields to local towns
surges of Independence fills and drowns

from Bastogne to Saratoga the cry rises
at home and abroad groups of varied sizes

"Independence Day! Independence Day!"

the flag rises on Iwo Jima as the family sits to eat
lofty hills overlooking Saigon to Barbecue meat

a flame rises in the breast as the flag is hoisted up
no corruption on this day just the raising of the cup

"Liberty! Freedom! Equality!"

never so much has a cry resounded through the land
from Alaska's untamed beauty to Florida's bright sand

A resounding cry fills gathering places from sea to sea
you can feel it rising, you can feel the power, the glee

"Independence Day! Independence Day!"

this is the latest in a long series of Independence day poems done by me, I hope you enjoy it

O.O that was astounding. I absolutely loved it. I also loved how you put them into verses. It's all very well written and expressed.
