Dark Spark

by ForeverASickKid   Jul 21, 2008

Darkness
Fell upon the town
The city
Was a dark abyss
A sudden spark
Led to a blazing inferno
Men and women scream
Running for the hills
Bodies and ashes lay on the ground
The end of the world has come
Those who survive wait for death
In an internal darkness

Excellent work, I had no qualms about giving this material a "5"! :) It first strikes the receiver as a concise news report...this creator has a seeming knack for presenting something that may not be "real", yet the receiver ends up with the uneasy feeling that it really is lurking in the back of their cranium and, later, the poem remains, as a sense of experienced "reality"!

Good imagery. Leaving the thesis open for the reader to determine on their own really sets the mood of the writing.
