Dear God

by Alana   Aug 8, 2008

He stumbled on the little train,
Left out on the floor again-
The one he'd told his son to put away.
He'd have to have a "talking to,"
And as he headed for his son's room
He stopped to hear his little boy say:

"Dear God,
Please tell my mommy that I love her,
And that we wish she'd never gone away.
Daddy says that she's your special angel,
And that we'll meet in heaven someday!
And God,
Could you ask mommy if she'd help you
Choose another mommy for our home?
Though we're doing fine, I think that it is time
We had another mommy for our own."

*******************************************

She locked the door, turned out the light-
Another day, another night,
Another year had come and gone.
She missed the child she'd never had
And the man who would have been a dad,
And she holds on to a faith that's nearly gone.

She prayed,
"God, please tell my darling that I love him.
And that I wish he'd never gone away."

**********************************************

He stumbled on the little train
Left out on the floor again-
The one they'd told their son to put away.
Taking his wife by the hand,
He said, "Let's go talk to him,"
And as they neared his room they heard him say:

"Dear God,
Thank you for the baby that you gave us;
She smiled when I gave her the new toy;
Mom says she's glad you sent a sister
'Cause she already has a little boy!
And God,
Please tell my first mommy that I love her
And that I think about her every day;
Mom and Daddy say that she's your special child
And we'll meet in heaven someday!"
