The Assassin

by rich sanchez   Aug 9, 2008

Hiding in the shadows of the cold dark night,

Is an assassin who is oh so still,

Waiting until the time is right,

Hiding in the shadows, keeping clear out of sight,

Getting ready to close in on the kill,

By using his cunning and Witt full skill,

But he'll have to strike and be unexpected

To go unnoticed and undetected,

For the one he seeks to kill is fully protected,

And will notice even the faintest sign,

He will not drop his defensive lines,

So like a thief in the night the assassin strikes without a clue,

Catching the victim off-guard,

His life he unmercifully slew,

And on the following morning,

When the townspeople heard about the crime,

The streets were filled with tears and mourning

And the church bells began to chime,

Then the assassin retreated to his den,

Only for a time...
