The Road

by Robert Daniel Long   Aug 10, 2008

Life is so precarious
Like a vapor
Here today
Gone tomorrow
It's a journey
We have to take

It's a road
With a beginning
An an end
Tributaries in between

How you travel this road
Will set the outcome

Everything starts somewhere
And is going somewhere
Things done in between
It's that
That matters

Many times
The roads we take
Are tests
Do we start something
Only to leave undone

The very things we've began

Our conversations
Are often one sided
Closed ended
Not leaving room for reprieves

Who are we trying to decieve

Our loved ones
Our friends
Did we love them
Or
Try in vain
Is this thought
One to drive us insane

Or ...........is it just a road

Were our actions just
Or
Another attempt to cover hypocrisy
We tend to do this
One to another

It's like we're moving
In two different directions
Hoping not to collide

Life is like a road

Leading to somewhere
Are you willing to follow
Are you wiiling to go

It's what we do
In between
That matters
Really
