Goodnight

by Torrence   Aug 16, 2008

Painful jealousy
Shameful vanity
This hanging tree
That's choking me
A dreadful cry
A begging plea
To finally live
Or be set free
A huddled mess
You're beaten, broken
Teary eyes
From words unspoken
Haunting beauty
This funeral pyre
Burned away
Made pure by fire
Emptied, lonely
A trembling mess
Too many sins
You must confess
Foolish heart
Sacred silence
Spited love
And heartfelt violence
Oh miserable man
On bended knee
Hopeless prayer
To lust and greed
You're not alone
Just wandering
Soon you'll return
To pondering
Wasted mind
Diminished light
Please close your eyes
That's all, goodnight.
