One of a Kind

One of a Kind
By: Robert Meuser

Sorrowfully I gaze
at your empty bed
With its billowing soft sides
where you laid your head.

No dog will ever be
as you were to me.

I can still see you
rubbing your eyes.
As you asked to play
with sweet chortling cries.

No dog will ever be
as you were to me.

I remember the times when
you crawled into my bed.
You knew it was OK
without it ever being said.

No dog will ever be
as you were to me.

The reality you’re gone
leaves a void in my heart.
The memory of you
will never depart.

If I searched the world over
from sea to sea.
No dog will ever be
as you were to me.

In memory of all our canine friends who have
left us with a hole in our hearts.
