I'll Make you Proud.

by CourtneyyContageous   Aug 30, 2008

I've found myself today
Remembering you
The only thing I could think of
Is do you remember me too?

I've walked this lonely path daddy
Without you by my side
I need you now more than ever
I want you to be my guide

Watch me from the Heaven's
Help my every step
I want you to be proud of me
Even beyond your death

I want to show you I can live
The life you've always dreamed
But everything reflects back to
Our little memories

If you could see me now father
See the girl I have become
I know you'd say "Good job sweetie
You're my number one"

But I know I can't hear your voice
Or see you before bed
You can't make the bad guys leave
Or pick up that book you've never read

So it's finally up to me
To have you looking down
Smiling Congratulations
Daddy, I'll try to make you proud.

This is a sweet and heartfelt poem. My father and I are really close; I can't imagine loosing him in my life. Dealing with that grief and its effects on your life are hard, so poetry is a great way to work through it. Well written.

    one thing:

    Watch my from the Heaven's
    Help my every step
I want you to be proud of me
    Even beyond your death
