The War (version 1)

by Sandra D   Sep 3, 2008

Hell seems like heaven compared to this place
Bruises like tattoos all over his face
Permanent scars that won't ever heal
He hopes it's a dream but this abuse is real

Try and try again for so long
He doesn't even know that it's wrong
We cannot help him get out of this
And he cries inside while the problems persist

He doesn't deserve what he's going through
So he tries to hold onto the only thing that's true
That picture in his mind of the life he once had
Because this one doesn't make the one before seem so bad

This life can't get better he knows that it won't
Cause he is still forced to go trough it alone
He cries out for help but can't find his voice
Part of him wants to run but he can't make the choice

He's lost all hope on trying to win
The only thing he can count on is it happening again
Wanting so badly to end all his shame
He's found the only way to end all his pain

The remains of a broke soul still live on
All he left behind was a paper with a song
His last words are left on the last page he tore
"You won the battles but I won the war"
