Love's a lie

by mostafa   Oct 16, 2008

Love is a lie and don't ask me why
like you i tried to resist it
but when reality hits you can't deny
a dream can only get you so high

love is well disguised
beneath the lie of truth
a road paved with pain
a way travelled with no gain

it's a sad sad thing to be said
but love draws more broken hearts
all lovers who agree bear the scars
still they think that if it's the only way
then tearing their hearts is the price they paid

they say love will give you wings
love will make you fly so high
you spread your wings and leap
tempted by the blue sky

too bad your wings have failed you
so easily it seems their words have fooled you
and as always the ground was the first to catch you
and reality was the hand to slap you in the face

eventually love will kill you
no matter how hard you try
love can and will find you
after all we're all supposed to die

Mashallah! Your poem was very beautifully written. I loved every word of it. The flow was nice and I was happy to see that you did not enforce rhyme in every line. too bad your wings have failed you
so easily it seems their words have fooled you
and as always the ground was the first to catch you
and reality was the hand to slap you in the face"
These words were filled with alot of emotion and I feel like you put the words in my head in a poem!
