A Night for Romance (Quatern)

by Ingrid   Oct 19, 2008

A night for romance
Candlelight dinner, black caviar
Champagne on ice and strawberries
The start of an evening divine

A little later on the beach
A night for romance
Two lovers walking hand in hand
Spell bound by each other 's magic

A perfect torso covers her
As a sigh escapes from her lips
A night for romance
Arms stretch out to draw him closer

Skin meets skin in perfect embrace
Tongues exploring and hands fondling
Music plays as two become one
A night for romance

~ Quatern ~

A Quatern is a sixteen line French form composed of four quatrains. It is similar to the Kyrielle
and the Retourne. It has a refrain that is in a different place in each quatrain. The first line of
stanza one is the second line of stanza two, third line of stanza three, and fourth line of stanza
four. A quatern has eight syllables per line. It does not have to be iambic or follow a set rhyme
scheme.
