All alone

by Megan Olney   Oct 22, 2008

All alone was the little girl
with bags under her eyes
she couldn't explain what happened
no matter how she tried

The teacher found the bruises
the principal, the welts
as they tried to get the answers
no one asked her how she felt.

She was afraid to answer the questions
scared beyond belief
for if they found out the truth
she might never find relief

Her life was full of misery
being beaten and abused
being raped for sexual favors
no matter how she refused

This story is fortunate
as it has a happy end
In a caring social worker
the child found a friend.

She was removed from the home
and never to return
as she sought to regain her life
and help other parents to learn

This poem is still in the works, but I know of lots of children that go through this daily and are afraid to let their voices be heard. If there are any charites in your area that can help with this, please donate what you can, whether it be money, time or even a prayer! Thank you for reading this!

This is such a heart breaking piece. I know a little boy who is being abused and he is scared of his own Mom. He finally got the courage to speak out. I pray for him and other children who have to endure these kind of things. What a cruel world we live in.
You did a great job on this piece.
