Sin To Burn

by Bill Turner   Nov 5, 2008

I fell to this prison earth
Sentenced to eternity
Banished from the stars
So many lessons to learn
Feel the sting, an ethereal burn

Lost yet never alone
A plague upon the planet
Detriment to all I see
Striving to survive
Never feeling alive

Pestilence, famine and flame
Scorched earth follows my path
Apocalypse, decadence and lust
Flesh awash in the funeral pyre
Stirring a deep sexual desire

Craving womanly pleasures
Passion stirring to the bone
Giving over to carnal sin
Lonely despite the touch
Alone always, just a crutch

What a dark and chilling piece you have penned. The imagery and word choices are great.

    So many lessons to learn
Feel the sting, an ethereal burn

That ethereal burn is the worst. To have to suffer so much to learn the lessons. Just leaves you wondering why?

    Lost yet never alone
    A plague upon the planet
    Detriment to all I see
    Striving to survive
    Never feeling alive

Sometimes no matter how hard we try we still can't feel alive. To some that feeling was lost a long time ago.

    Excellent job my friend.
