Like Fire

by Emily   Dec 11, 2008

I am like fire, warm and bright,
I give to those near, my warmth and light,
My spirit flickers in this night,
Flame of my soul bewitching your sight,
I am like fire, wild, fierce light.

This is my warning to you,
Who have drawn so near,
Take care to guard your heart,
And keep your head clear.

Fire held too close will consume.
Fire not fed will die.
Fire played with will bring you pain.
Fire stifled will say goodbye...

I am like fire, raging on...
Fierce joy, pure light is my siren's song,
Without knowing it I have steadily drawn,
You, my friend, with my siren's song...

I am not ready for love's consuming flame,
Yet I don't want our friendship to die,
I refuse to play with your emotions,
Love me too much and I will say goodbye...

I am like fire, a restless spark,
Afraid to ignite my fragile heart,
Fearful of things hidden in the dark,
Of giving you the flame of my heart...
