Hate Is Safer Than Love

by Timothy r   Jan 4, 2009

The doctor came in as we huddled together
the news swift and numbing of mind
thoughts of never seeing you again
left me dazed and surprisingly free
of guilt and loathing
it is never easy being a disappointment
to those whose respect you crave

Traveling the road less taken
leading away from resentful digs
rained down upon me from afar
always awaiting your parental love
instead suffering from obvious hate
never to feel those words inside
whispering to myself "I hate you, too"

Kind of made me sad...reason being is I see myself in that place...for the demise of my father...would I say that too? Hmmm...some people don't understand the damage a parent can do to a person even into their adulthood...it never goes away. I like this becuase it wasn't in your face brutal like most of would have put it...it was such a mysteriously nice blow...I like!!!

I like the air of mystery in this. It's vague but poignant, if that makes any sense :)

I've definitely read better by you, but this is a beautiful beginning to what I'm sure will be a poetry filled year. Keep it up!
    Love ya, Holly
(That sounds more like me, now it's off to bed, lol)

I love the air of mystery in the first stanza.... What was the news? Who is the one "leaving"? Why the hate?

Then it's all spelled out... but not totally in the 2nd stanza. We've all been there...

    Very nice, indeed.

    Keep 'em coming!
