Being on Fire

by Jennifer RIP Lesthat Hayden   Jan 5, 2009

What does it feel like to be on fire?
Engulfed in the pain of pure desire.
Illuminating shadows with dancing light.
One little spark and it begins to ignite.

Flying through air while shot up in flames
as everyday people continue their games.
Smoke infused oxygen being breathed
as weapons of destruction are unsheathed.

Night stars dancing in the midnight sky
as children stare up and wonder why.
The answers they seek are always hidden
for answers to their questions are forbidden.

Tingling pain freckled everywhere
while stink comes from burning hair.
Skin turns black and falls right off
while smoke filled lungs begin to cough.

Life escaped, all burned away
and blackness chooses to stay.
Forever stained by deep burns
as an empty emotion churns.
