The Statue [Incomplete]

The Statue
She looked up at him, her eyes full of tears
Not letting a single one fall. No; she wouldn't show her fears!
He stood there in front of her, his face as hard as stone.
He wouldn't show how much his pain had grown.

She started to speak then bit back her words
Her thoughts escaped her like un-caged birds

He glanced down at the frustration on her face
Maybe it was his heart that wouldn't find a place

"I could search far and wide,
And never find another I want by my side"

Surprised by her words he didn't say a thing
He was worried of what her next speech would bring

When he didn't reply she looked away
"I didn't mean it, what I said that day"

He looked on around her without a care
What could she say that he couldn't bear?

"What I mean is!" She scrambled for composure
"Maybe we-I wasn't ready for that kind of exposure!"

He stared down now confused and still not a sound
In fact his eyes weren't even looking up from the ground

"Please just hear me out" She said in a rush
"I know I am certain this was never just a crush"

He looked at her face and after a moments hesitation
He spoke softly "Continue with your presentation"

She smiles softly, not out of joy but for relief
'At least he's still sitting beside me' She thought in disbelief

Once again he sat in silence not moving at all
In fact she wasn't sure that he moved once during the drawl

"Please, please forgive me for all I have said"
Really I didn't mean it when I said we were dead"

Still not a sound from the man made of stone
He had heard this all before. All of this he had known.

The hot tears fell from her eyes, and then fell to the earth.
For each one that fell; she knew another gave birth.

He made to stand, just to get up and walk away.
But her hand clutched at his, and her grip he could not sway

"Don't go, I'm not finished what it is I need to say"
"Just let me finish and you can go about your life your own way"

The statue seemed to come to life just then;
And sat in silence once again.

Mystified by his actions the girl went on
About a past love now since gone

The man of stone seemed not to even care.
In fact, of her presence he seemed not even aware

"Don't you think this is a bit much good sir?"
"If you could never see me again is that what you'd prefer?"

For her words he was not prepared
For she hadn't known how much he despaired

And so she sat awaiting his reply
Wondering: 'Is it now time to say good bye?'

He sat and stared into her eyes
"Oh, and look at how the time flies"

Perplexed, she looked up at him, urging him on
"Could he really be this far gone?"

"Well here you sit before me little dear,
And you've come to ask me to make everything clear"

"Is it that hard to put my mind to rest?"
And then she cried out "Or is this yet another test?!"

He looked at her, stunned by the outburst;
And in that single moment he knew he was cursed

"No good sir are you, for one to break a woman's heart!"
"No sir you are a monster! And in your games I want no part!"

The statue reached towards her, "Really little dear"
"I meant you no harm, although my reasons may sound a little queer"

"I am waiting for an explanation..." Her arms folded across her chest
"And please sir, with my heart do not jest"

He was unperturbed by her actions, for she sat with him still
He tried to explain his thoughts "I cannot leave you until..."

"Until?" Her eyes full of question.
Where was he going with this oppression?

"Until I know you love me, and I feel the same for you,
And that is why I didn't object...when you said we were through"

How do you expect me to believe such lies!
Her eyes bore pain "How did you believe my hollow good-byes?!"

"Please do not look at me that way"
"For it was you that came here and tried to beg me to stay"

"This was before I knew I had been played!"
"And now I am glad you hadn't stayed!"

"Now is such harshness required?"
"Of these foolish games, I am quite tired!"

"You were the one who started this game"
"And it is you sir who should take the blame!"

"Really miss, do you think I would believe such a lie?"
"How did you not see my soul die?"

Stunned to silence she looked from him
Never in her life had her future seemed so grim

"Required or not they still remain!"
"That is 'till now, for that was my heart you had slain"

The girl frowned but did nothing more,
This was not her chance to even the score.

"And now you refuse me. You won't even accept that you love me."
"Please you damned angel, if you do not want me...please just set me free"

"I sir, do not have a hold upon you, you could have left whenever you desired."
"Your lingering feelings for me were never required"
"Fine then, it is you that should decide my fate"

"Regardless of your actions; and excluding all your hate. I'm afraid your love has come far too late"

"Please little bird, little dear
I am trying oh so very hard to prove my love here"

"And how I wish I could believe you,"
She sighed "How I wish you only knew"

"But I do know, I'm trying to show you that I do!
Please, please don't let this be through!"

She takes his hand and pats it light
"Please tell me when we're done with our fight."

He stared at her stunned to silence
"But...you chose not to accept me with such defiance"

"And you good sir chose to fight back with such passion,
Surely a man like you never goes out of fashion"

A faint touch of scarlet touches his face
"So your saying none of my words were a waste?"

"No, not a single one, for I was the one that hadn't stayed And as it stands good sir, you were the one that was played"

He looked up at her his composure cracking
"And here I thought it was love I was lacking"

Kissing him softly she hangs her head
"No good sir there is just some things I dread"

Pulling her close he hugs her tight
"Please just tell me, I'll make everything right"

" 'Tis just the fact that all love ends in a fight
For once a peaceful love would be alright."

"No dear angel you don't understand!
It is the fights that make a love oh so grand!"

"Please sir an explanation would be nice,
Please sir only this and you can name your price."

"Please angel, it is only you i desire
and only your love that it is I require"

"Such a small price for all of you pain?
For such a small thing what will you gain?"
