February

by fakesmile   Jan 29, 2009

It was that month when people
bind their hearts as one;
everything was sweet
but my dark chocolate.

The scent of cherry blossoms
escalated the morose air,
around the corner I saw him
standing on his truth of wisdom.

"Roses are five bucks, honey."
"Please tell me, please tell!
I searched everywhere, I want,
oh I want, Calla Lilies."

Stuck in a moment of clarity
by then I knew, he knew!
Somehow I managed to look
without seeing reflections,
in his mournful eyes.

The wind is like daggers
slashing through my flesh
and everything is a blur
when all I can see is water.

I ran and drove as fast as I could,
time was of the essence
I wanted to stop your trip,
a ticket to heaven was un-refundable
you said I can't go with you

Time hits one o clock and I was late,
was it too lonely up there?
Can't they just take someone else?
Eight years had passed since then
and when I walked by that same place
it feels like your dying all over again.
