Valentine Extolled

by ADEL   Feb 14, 2009

I am naught but a sigh
in the tear of your eye
till the oceans fold
and the seas dry
Till the buds of flowers
in the centuries of hours
yield the dewy warmth
and the light sun lowers
Till a day unseen
of graves clean
and hills thick
and mountains lean
Yet love is strong
in the muscle of songs
longing to resing
the heart that longs
To meanings superb
in the nature of verbs
spoken in the meadows
and the soul of herbs
Blooming in a root
to a musical fruit
sang of robins
and the shrub of lute
When heavens bleed
" Love is the creed"
upon who listens
and the eyes that read
The page of love hood
" The main meal and food"
for every starving heart
lacking for good
With a will pure
lugged with cure
from the harm of lust
and the dirt of lure
To circle and round
sky and ground
with passion loud
and serenity proud
To ignite the wine
the time you dine
jeweling the eves
with ruddy valentine
