Forever Liz

by Nicko   Feb 19, 2009

Closing my eye's, I see her
A tranquil vision
Peacefully she stands upon an isolated jetty
Face bathed profile
A dark silhouette
Haloed by the moonlit water
Hair billowing, black ringlets buffeted by breeze
Frock dusting her bare calves
Tall, lithe, beautiful

With bare feet intimate with the roughened planks
She gently, proudly walks to the jetty's edge
Fearful we call out
Her ears forever deaf
Yet, never taking that final step, she turns
Forgiving smile touches us
She stands, she waits
Never far from view
Forever before us
Forever young
Forever Liz

Written for Elisabetta, a member of our club who died at the age of 21 from cancer.
