La Ville

by Sole   Mar 10, 2009

Cold, empty churchyard
Bullets stain the holy shell
Women, children, murdered without reason
I stand in a town where the innocent fell

Mercilessly massacred, Swastikas' shoot
To this day, nobody knows why they came
This desolate Ville, a sad reminder stands
In memory of those lost, in Oradour-sur-Glane

_____________

(Oradour-sur-Glane is a small French town which was invaded by the SS in June, 1944, there was no explanation given but the entire town was shot and the buildings mostly destroyed afterwards. For more information.. just google ;) )

This is a sad write indeed and for the fact that it was based on a true story, the words you used to describe the tragic event really brings the tragedy to life.I really enjoyed it . keep it up

I read your poem on the main forums and just had to come leave a comment.

Such sadness flows through your lines. Deep, heart impacting words expressed with ink filled tears.
I will be sure to google it ...

Great job on this touching piece!
