Silence Speaks

by Deana   Mar 14, 2009

Alone on the mountain, tears flow
Searching for the right way to go
Echo's find no sermon to preach
Oh so loudly the silence speaks

A mothers voice, is quiet now
no wise comforting words are found
No fathers lessons there to teach
Oh so loudly the silence speaks

To southern skies, the birds have flown
empty nests they once called their homes
No gentle voice to bring relief
Oh so loudly the silence speaks

Children singing happy at play
A gunman's bullet took away
The little schoolhouse sits in grief
Oh so loudly the silence speaks

War is over, or so they say
Return to fight another day
A mothers heart is left to bleed
Oh so loudly the silence speaks

A lover leaves, without a word
sweet sad goodbyes are never heard
An aching heart is left to grieve
Oh so loudly the silence speaks

    Deana,
Wow, Dear I am speechless. This is an absolutely beautiful write. I think this is your best write so far ( of course there are so many) This speaks of so many different saddening positions one could be in. Amazing job sis. Definitely one that I would read again and again.

The 3rd line of this stanza is brilliant !!!!

Deana you have done a wonderful write with this form. The repetitive line you chose was strong ... and fit every stanza perfectly.

sweet sad goodbyes are never heard
An aching heart is left to grieve

Nice job on the form Deana....This piece is so profound and sad....all the forms of loss take on a tangible persona...

I really like how you've moved from the mountaintop at the beginning...through the different scenarios and tied it all together with the silence being the common thread...

Well done Deana! Take care, Debbie
