Ignorance Is Bliss

by Inside the Liar   Mar 18, 2009

Go ahead pretty baby
Pull the wool over your eyes
Go linger in the sunshine
Pretending everything is fine

Just curl up into yourself
On the ground in a ball
What do you care if your world is crashing?
You don't have to watch it fall.

With your brand name clothing
And all the expensive perfume
You've gotten used to a life a comfort
Accustomed to being used

With all of Daddy's money
And all of Mommy's pride
You've always been the princess
Blind to the other side

You've got a bit of brains
And beauty enough to spare
All the friends a girl could want
But how many really care?

You're accepted into college
Everyone's saying you'll go far
No one wants to say you got in
Because of who your parents are

I saw a spark in your eyes once
Quite a while ago
It made me wonder about your composure
If there was something you chose not to show

You just float along obliviously
Not noticing anything you miss
And you make me wonder if it's true
That ignorance is bliss.
