Behold the many armies.

by Teria   Mar 25, 2009

Bring forth your heart,
eat away at death.
Behold the many armies,
fighting second best.
They'll fall down, 'til they're gone
reappearing one by one.

They haunt the ground we live,
bring peace unto our hearts.
Filling us with joy,
we thought we'd never feel again.

They make tears fall into rivers,
hands join into one -
bring nations to their feet,
proving: war's never any fun.

We'll wrap them up like cardboard,
recycled in our stores -
bale them with those metal ties
leaving no room to breathe.

Passion fights our conscious,
and love over takes -
as we behold the many armies
standing one by one.

This poem is truly deep. It is interesting to see how war and advancement of the race seem to be so connected and how war can unify even the most diverse groups of people. My only suggestion is that the rhymes between "hands join into one -" and "proving: war's never any fun." was a bit forced. Other than that great write. 5/5.
