A Glorious Creation

by Inside the Liar   Mar 26, 2009

Click, click, click
Turn the wrench slowly,
Tighten every bolt
Then step away
And pick up the controls.

Creak, creak, creak
Turn the dial
Until you get the green light
Slip on the glasses
And pray that it works.

Tick, tick, tick
He stirs
Raising his metal arms up over his head of steel
Swaying his body left and right
Until he looks straight at you.

Whirr, whirr, whirr
His glass stained eyes seek
And find the box in your palm
He smiles when you press the button
And takes a step forward.

Yes, yes, yes
A silent chant in your mind
As your creation does your bidding
This robot, made just for you
And you smile as it glides.

Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh
At your silent nudging,
He reverts back to his former position
Of unspoken and hard-working glory.
Representing a goal you never thought you'd reach.
