Try and Look Away

by Danielle   Apr 4, 2009

I saw a young boy sitting on the sidewalk today.
He couldn't be more than 12 year old.
His eyes were grey with boredom.
As I passed him by,
He asked me for some spare change.
I gave him what I had in my pocket:
$1.25
There goes my breakfast.
But I didn't mind much.
I slowly walked away.
I turned to look back at him.
There was a layer of dust and mud covering his face.
His clothes were nearly torn to shreds.
I turned back,
Trying to look away.
A drop of cold rain hit my face.
But I just kept moving.
