Amongst The Bones

by Sweet Disposition   Apr 14, 2009

My eyes paced around that waiting room
Eyeing bodies, broken bones
Lost souls vanishing with each milisec'
Each a prisoner to their clones

Cheekbones sharp; cutting each cheek deeply
Swollen stomachs groan in gasps
Shattered, screaming for some comfort
Ghosts of the girls that make 'The Past'

Pupils and corresponding retinas
Black as death as they were weighed
For no flower grew inside of them
Each characteristic had been slayed

No justification for their symptoms
Why were they rooted to these chairs?
Broken children- crying, fighting
Pain diffusing through the air

The skeletons twitch and place their gazes
'They want to see you', in my ear
Craning necks to watch them take me
Knowing their own time is near

Gripping hands clasped on my shoulders
Then the snapping of a rib
Cracking, splitting, ever lasting
I had nothing left to give...

Surrendering to my 'saviours'
Forcing solids down my throat
Thorax pounding with each gulp and chew
Replaying the last girl's anecdote

Waiting for that lost, forgotten fullness
Organs fail, a beat alone
Unwelcomed fat intrudes the arteries
Ossification - fully grown

But the fungus crawls back eventually
Slyly creeping through the skin
And the antigens forfeit to the war
For the demons always win.
